"Whose Crime is This?": Finance Capitalism and Market Economics in Early 20th Century China

Drawing from an array of legal, literary, and economic source materials, the project looks at the translation of market economics into Chinese language and daily life when stock exchanges first emerged in early-Republican-era Shanghai.
