Sound Art

May 2012

Sound art has emerged as a major contemporary art form in the last few years. Yet its significance in the art world has not yet been matched by academic attention, largely because the forms of expertise required cut across traditional disciplinary divides.

We will assemble a diverse group from the arts and humanities to address this lacuna in a collaborative project that cuts across the disciplines. Focal issues will include definitions and histories of sound art, media, and aesthetics.
