Character Analysis

Please note: This research partnernership opportunity runs from end of January through May 2013.

In this project, actors will spend three months acquiring consenting subjects as "characters" in an attempt to see how far an actor can go toward adopting someone else's subjectivity. Most "sessions" will take place in my studio, where they will be documented on video. 

I would be interested in working with students from the fields of cognitive psychology, philosophy of mind, and/or personal identity. I would benefit by both their research and perspective; the students would benefit by exposure to new and unusual applications of their disciplines.

I would also be interested in working with students from visual arts (especially video or performance) and theater (especially directors, actors, or stage managers). I would benefit by their technical assistance; they would benefit by, again, observing an unconventional application of their discipline.
