Filaments, Flows, and the Formation of Very Massive Galaxies

Astronomy

This project requires analyzing a wide variety of astronomical data and understanding these through a comparison of theoretical models and simulations. The student can help with tasks and also bring fresh insights.

The student could be involved in various aspects of the analysis of either data or simulations. He or she would be expected to have, at minimum, a sophomore-level knowledge of physics/astronomy, a working knowledge of computers and programming, and an interest in astrophysics. Some prior experience in astronomical research would be valuable, but not required.

The student will gain a working experience of scientific process as applied to astrophysics research and develop an appreciation for this exciting field.
