While at Radcliffe, I will write a book manuscript on the topic of “sexual migration” that will be based on results from my ethnographic research with Mexican gay male immigrants. I am seeking a research partner who can help me locate and summarize relevant literature on topics such as queer sexualities, queer diaspora, international migration, and HIV risk. The student will primarily conduct bibliographic searches, create summaries of specific readings, and meet with me periodically to discuss the material being reviewed. Depending on skills, the student may also help me summarize some of my qualitative findings. Required skills are: 1) experience using the electronic databases offered by the Harvard library system and locating library materials, and 2) training in the social sciences or humanities (previous coursework in sexuality studies or Latino/Latin American cultures is a plus).
The student’s work will help me fine-tune my references and bibliography. The research partner will benefit from exposure to the recent literature on gay sexualities, queer diaspora, international migration, and HIV/AIDS, as well as from discussing this material with me over the course of the appointment period.
