Water, Sanitation, Hygiene, and Health in Rural Kenya
The student will assist with quantitative analysis of household survey data using Stata. (Relevant prior coursework such as introduction to statistics of econometrics is preferred; prior experience with data analysis in Stata is a requirement.) The student might also help with literature reviews and converting research manuscripts into policy briefs (strong written and oral communication skills are preferred; graphic design skills would be ideal).
The student will support the project on activities that are nonessential (and so otherwise would not be done) but useful for dissemination efforts.
The student will hone his or her quantitative analysis skills, be exposed to research topics at the intersection of economics and public health, gain experience working with data and findings from randomized evaluations, and (perhaps most importantly for the long term) develop a relationship with the faculty adviser, who can serve as a mentor/reference as the student moves from Harvard to his or her next step (employment, graduate school, etc.).
