A Nottingham Trent University academic has been awarded a research fellowship at Harvard University in America.
Professor Carole Perry will start a year-long fellowship at the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study from September.
She will continue her work on the interaction between organisms and materials.
She said: "I am deeply honoured to have been awarded this fellowship and am looking forward to joining the class of 2012-2013.
"Our research aims to increase fundamental understanding of the biomolecule-mineral interface. What happens at the interface between different materials is key to their success."
