Cambridge, Mass.—The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University has announced the 48 women and men selected to be Radcliffe Institute fellows in 2010–2011. These creative artists, humanists, scientists and social scientists were chosen––from an international pool of nearly 900 applicants––for their superior scholarship, research or artistic endeavors, as well as the potential of their projects to yield long-term impact. Radcliffe Institute to Award 2010 Fay Prize to Diana C. Wise

Cambridge, Mass.––The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University has awarded its 2010 Captain Jonathan Fay Prize to Diana C. Wise, a Harvard senior concentrating in history and literature. Wise was selected for her thesis “Mere Trifles: Lord Hervey’s Memoirs and the Significance of the Insignificant,” an incisive analysis of the writings, life and sociopolitical environment of John, Lord Hervey, an 18th-century English courtier of King George II and Queen Caroline. Cambridge, Mass.—The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University has announced that Gloria Steinem, a pioneering feminist, award-winning journalist and best-selling author, will be awarded the 2010 Radcliffe Institute Medal at the Radcliffe Day luncheon on Friday, May 28, 2010, at 12:30 p.m. Radcliffe Institute Dean Barbara J. Annette Gordon-Reed Named Carol K. Pforzheimer Professor at the Radcliffe Institute

Sophie Morel Named Professor of Mathematics and Radcliffe Alumnae Professor at Harvard

CAMBRIDGE, Mass.--Mathematician Sophie Morel, who works at the intersection of algebraic geometry, representation theory, and number theory, has been named professor of mathematics in Harvard University's Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS). She has also been appointed to the Radcliffe Alumnae Professorship at the university's Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study. Both appointments are effective Dec. 15, 2009.

Cambridge, Mass.--The Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study at Harvard University is celebrating its 10th anniversary during the 2009-2010 academic year. On October 1, 1999, the Radcliffe College Board of Trustees and the Harvard Corporation created the Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study, launching a new phase of Radcliffe's history.
