Rebecca E. F. Wassarman joined the Radcliffe Institute as director of Academic Ventures in November 2009. She works with Radcliffe Institute faculty associates to strengthen the Institute's connections across Harvard University, as well as its roles in cross-disciplinary collaborations and intellectual innovation. As a longtime member of the Harvard community, Wassarman has an extensive understanding of the University from an administrative perspective and a wealth of experience with faculty and academic planning. She served in the Faculty of Arts and Sciences (FAS) for more than eight years as assistant dean for academic affairs, for faculty affairs, and for faculty development, among other roles.
Wassarman earned an AB in history from Harvard and a JD from the University of Michigan Law School. Before returning to Harvard, she was the faculty affairs officer in Stanford University's School of Humanities and Sciences. She also worked for several years for the State Bar of California.
