Papers of Adrienne Rich
Poet, author, feminist, and teacher Adrienne Rich (b. 1929) has been hailed as “one of the most widely read and influential poets of the second half of the 20th century.” In 1951, her first collection of poetry, A Change of World, won the Yale Series of Younger Poets competition, and her subsequent work explores female identity, motherhood, lesbianism, civil rights, peace, and the meaning of art.
Our collection documents both her personal and professional life and her involvement in the women’s movement. Her papers cover topics including international feminism, feminist publishing, violence against women, and women in prison.
