Zoe Beloff will discuss her ongoing project "The Coney Island Amateur Psychoanalytic Society and its Circle, 1926–1972." This unique organization was made up of working people from a wide variety of backgrounds. Their activities included lectures, comic books, and home movies in which they restaged their dreams on film. Through the framework of the society, Beloff will analyze the unconscious of the people who lived and worked in "The People's Playground" in the 20th century. In addition, she will present her recent discoveries from the archives of the Blackpool chapter of the society.
