Lecture by Lamia Joreige RI '17
At Radcliffe, Lamia Joreige is working on the third chapter of Under-Writing Beirut, focusing on Ouzaï, a South Beirut neighborhood that is the subject of much fascination and controversy. Joreige will question the relationship between the state and the diverse communities existing within Lebanon. She will investigate the possibility of mapping an informal space and will look for what images of such places prevail in our imagination. Her research will assemble elements from such diverse fields as film, history, and urban and political studies.
Free and open to the public.
