I would be interested in working with a research partner in music composition/theory who would do piano reductions of my opera scores. The research partner would work with me and, in the process, learn to transcribe and arrange music originally composed for human voice and symphony orchestra, using microtones. The student would learn how to read the complexities of 21st century music scores.
Ideally, the research partner would have the following skills: score reading, harmony analysis, a piano composing/playing technique—this is important to imitate orchestral texture. This student would have an interest in opera and knowledge of piano.
The research partner will be exposed to musical composition at the intersection of Western and Middle Eastern musical traditions. They will also engage the issues of writing an opera in this present time.
