Asad L. Asad is a PhD candidate in sociology at Harvard University. His work addresses questions related to im/migration; qualitative and mixed methods; race and ethnicity; social stratification; and urban sociology.

Guiding Asad’s research projects is a desire to understand contemporary patterns of immigration from Latin America in spite of unprecedented levels of enforcement at the US border and beyond. While at Radcliffe, Asad will work on papers related to immigrants’ perceptions of and experiences with police, immigration, and court officials. 

Asad holds a BA with comprehensive honors in political science and Spanish language and culture from the University of Wisconsin and an AM in sociology from Harvard University. His work has been supported by the National Science Foundation and the Sperry Fund, as well as by the Center for American Political Studies at Harvard University, the Multidisciplinary Program in Inequality and Social Policy, the Program in Criminal Justice Policy and Management, and the Weatherhead Center for International Affairs.
