Eve Fowler

Eve Fowler is a visual artist living in Los Angeles. Her creative practice hinges on a form of collaboration that has bearing witness at its core. This is manifested through her decades of photographic practice and through her ongoing work with fellow artists, filmmakers, writers, and curators under the rubric of the exhibition project that she founded and directs, called Artist Curated Projects.

At Radcliffe, Fowler is continuing to research and develop her 10-part film titled with it which it as if it is to be and producing its second installment. Like the first, this second part will seek out what remains unseen, unsung, unobserved: the working practices of women artists in their studios, particularly artists in the later years of life. Part intimate study, part feminist critique—and where the first installment of the film was an entry into the archive—this second part will mine the existing archive for what remains of the practices of women artists in the last century, in order to make contact with them, enter their studios, learn from them.

Fowler is a recipient of a 2017 Art Matters grant and, in 2018, had solo exhibitions at Dundee Contemporary Arts, in Scotland, and Nino Mier Gallery, Los Angeles. Her work is in the permanent collections of the Hammer Museum, the Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, and the Smithsonian Institution. Fowler earned her MFA from Yale University School of Art.
