Faren Humes is a filmmaker from Miami and Sanderson, Florida, who melds narrative and documentary conventions to explore and invoke Black continuation.

During her fellowship, Humes is furthering a body of work concerning displacement in the Liberty City neighborhood in Miami, Florida.

Humes’s work has screened with jury recognition at AFI FEST, Berlinale, the Chicago International Film Festival, Internationale Kurzfilmtage Winterthur, the Miami Film Festival, and South by Southwest. Her work has been supported by Film Independent, the Knight Foundation, the Sundance Institute, and Tribeca Film Institute. She is a Guggenheim Fellow and a USA Fellow and was a 2020 Cinematic Arts Resident at Oolite Arts.
