This information is accurate as of the fellowship year indicated for each fellow.

Margot Livesey is a novelist who teaches at Emerson College in Boston. She published her seventh novel, The Flight of Gemma Hardy: A Novel (Harper), in February 2012.

She plans to work on a new novel, which means, ideally, writing every day and doing research.

Livesey has been awarded fellowships from the John Simon Guggenheim Memorial Foundation and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her sixth novel, The House on Fortune Street: A Novel (Harper, 2008), won the L.L. Winship/PEN New England Award. Livesey—who grew up in a boys’ private school in the Scottish Highlands, where her father taught and her mother was the school nurse—earned a BA in English and philosophy at the University of York in England.
