Martha Buskirk is an assistant professor of art history at Montserrat College of Art, where she was the chair of the Liberal Arts Department from 1997 to 1999. A writer and editor, Buskirk coedited the publication The Duchamp Effect with Mignon Nixon (MIT Press, 1996) and served as the managing editor for October magazine from 1990 to 1994. Buskirk has published several articles for Art in America and reviews of art books and exhibitions.

Buskirk earned a PhD in art history from the City University of New York Graduate Center. She was an Honorary Charlotte W. Newcombe Fellow in 1994 and a Luce Foundation Fellow in 1990.
