Shutzer Assistant Professor at the Radcliffe Institute and assistant professor of history of art and architecture in the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences

Shawon K. Kinew is a Shutzer Assistant Professor at the Radcliffe Institute and an assistant professor in the Department of History of Art and Architecture in the Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences. Kinew is an art historian of early modern Southern Europe.

Kinew received her honors BA from the University of Toronto and her AM and PhD from Harvard University. Before her appointment at Harvard, she was a postdoctoral fellow in the Andrew W. Mellon Fellowship for Scholars in the Humanities and a lecturer in the Department of Art and Art History at Stanford University from 2016 to 2018. Kinew has held residential fellowships in the Scholars Program at the Getty Research Institute and at the Bibliotheca Hertziana–Max Planck Institute for Art History, in Rome, Italy, as a Kress Institutional Fellow in the History of European Art. Her scholarship has been supported by numerous organizations, including the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, the Lemmermann Foundation, in Rome, and the David Rockefeller Center for Latin American Studies at Harvard.
