Deans of the Radcliffe Institute

Radcliffe Deans, Barbara J. Grosz, Lizabeth Cohen, Tomiko Brown-Nagin, and Drew Faust

In 1999, Radcliffe College and Harvard University officially merged, establishing today's Harvard Radcliffe Institute. Since its inception, the Institute has been led and shaped by four outstanding scholars.

Drew Gilpin Faust, Term of Office: 2001–2007. Harvard University President Emeritus and Arthur Kingsley Porter University Professor. Faust went on from Harvard Radcliffe Institute to serve as the 28th president of Harvard University—the first woman to hold that position—from 2007 through June 30, 2018.
Barbara J. Grosz, Term of Office: 2007–2011. Higgins Research Professor of Natural Sciences at Harvard John A. Paulson School of Engineering and Applied Sciences.
Lizabeth Cohen, Term of Office: 2011–2018. Howard Mumford Jones Professor of American Studies in the Department of History, Harvard Faculty of Arts and Sciences, and Harvard University Distinguished Service Professor.
Tomiko Brown-Nagin, Term of Office: 2018–present. Dean, Radcliffe Institute for Advanced Study; Daniel P.S. Paul Professor of Constitutional Law, Harvard Law School; and Professor of History, Faculty of Arts and Sciences, Harvard University.
