Abigail Friedman is a PhD candidate in the economics concentration of the Harvard PhD Program in Health Policy. Her research applies behavioral and health economics to better understand the health behaviors and health-related decision making of individual consumers.

During her fellowship year, Friedman is studying the determinants of costly health behaviors among adolescents, with a particular focus on the mechanisms driving socioeconomic differentials and the influence of adverse mental health.

Friedman received her BA from Columbia University, where she was awarded the David Estabrook Romine Prize for her senior thesis in economics. At Harvard, she has previously held an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Traineeship, as well as an Aetna Fellowship and GSAS Graduate Society Summer Predissertation Fellowship. She was also awarded a summer fellowship from the Mathematica Policy Research in 2013.
