This information is accurate as of the fellowship year indicated for each fellow.

Alina Marian is a professor of mathematics at Northeastern University. Her research in geometry connects to current directions in theoretical high-energy physics.

Marian’s current projects regard parameter spaces for fundamental geometric objects such as curves and sheaves. In one direction, she aims to understand the intricate structure of invariants associated with these parameter spaces; in a different direction, she wishes to uncover classical aspects of their geometry.

Marian pursued her undergraduate studies in mathematics and physics at Harvard College and later received her PhD in mathematics from Harvard University. She is a past recipient of a Sloan Research Fellowship, and her research has been supported by awards from the National Science Foundation.
