Tomoko Shiroyama is an economist who specializes in Chinese economic history and Asian socioeconomic history. She has led research on the intra-Asian comparison of socioeconomics focusing on the monsoon climate and hydrosphere; by constructing a database on human activities and natural environments and applying spatial analyses, this project is exploring a new historical narrative of the region.
