Ladee Hubbard

Ladee Hubbard is the author of two novels, The Talented Ribkins (Melville House, 2017), which received the Hurston/Wright Legacy Award and the Ernest J. Gaines Award for Literary Excellence, and The Rib King (Amistad, 2021). 

While at Radcliffe, she is researching and writing a novel that places the late 20th-century War on Drugs in the larger historical context of African Americans being used in drug trials and medical experiments.

She is a recipient of a Rona Jaffe Foundation Writers’ Award and has also received fellowships from the American Academy in Berlin, the Camargo Foundation, Hedgebrook, Instituto Sacatar, MacDowell, and other organizations. She earned a BA in English from Princeton University, an MFA in creative writing from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a PhD in folklore and mythology from UCLA.
