Amy Erdman Farrell is the Ann and John Curley Chair of Liberal Arts and Professor of American Studies and Women’s, Gender and Sexuality Studies at Dickinson College. She is completing a book that focuses on the little-studied yet extraordinarily important history of the Girl Scouts of the USA, from its origins in 1912 through the 1980s, exploring its complex struggles over race and civil rights, feminism, and the legacies of empire and colonialism.
